Three numbers from a tape measure, and you know which wreath diameter to order. No guesswork — and no returns because it looked smaller on the door than it did in the photo.

Measure the door slab itself, edge to edge — not the frame opening.
Most US front doors are 36″ wide × 80″ tall.
How wreath diameter is measured
Measure straight across the face of the wreath, from the outermost tip on one side to the outermost tip on the other — berries, eucalyptus and any foliage that reaches past the base all count. If you own a wreath you already like, measure it this way before comparing: a 22-inch ring with loose foliage can visually read a size larger once it is hung.

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my door?
Measure the door slab itself, edge to edge — not the frame opening. Most front doors in the US are 36 inches wide by 80 tall. If you have a storm door, plan 1–2 inches of clearance behind the wreath so nothing presses against the glass.
What size wreath is most common?
A 22 to 24 inch wreath on a standard 36-inch door is the most common pairing — roughly 60% of the door’s width. Below half the door’s width reads quiet; above about 70% starts to crowd the edges.
My door is oversized — what now?
For 42-inch doors and up, look at the 30 and 36-inch tiers in the chart above. Very wide double doors can also carry two smaller wreaths hung at matching height, one per door — a common treatment for French doors.
